After appearing in a string of leaks in the first half of September, the LG Nexus 5 has become a bit camera shy in the latter half of the month. It appears that the unannounced device may have decided to peek its head out one more time before the calendar flips to October, though, as a new image of what may be the Nexus 5 in the wild has leaked.

Posted to the MacRumors forums by a user named "weespeed," the photo shows a device with vertical Nexus branding and a large, rounded camera housing, just like the phones in previous Nexus 5 leaks. We can also see a rounded top with what looks to be a headphone jack, and the side facing the camera looks to be home to a volume rocker. A second device is resting on top of the Nexus 5, and while there's no mention of exactly what this mystery product is, the shape of its corner and the presence of a small, round sensor near the corner suggests that it may be a also be a Nexus 5.

In addition to posting this purported image of the Nexus 5, weespeed also put up a post describing his or her hands-on time with the device. The phone is reportedly smaller than the LG G2 and is said to "feel good" in the hand, with a back cover that's similar to the new Nexus 7. Moving around to the front, we're told to expect a "very small" screen bezel and a display that's "ok."

Neither LG nor Google have made any official announcements regarding a new Nexus smartphone. However, an unidentified device with LG and Nexus branding made a brief appearance in a video for Android 4.4 KitKat that was posted by Google earlier this month. The device has popped up in a few different leaks since then, including several shots that were posted by the Federal Communications Commission. It's still not clear when LG and Google plan to put an end to the leaks and make this new Nexus phone officially official, but considering how long the Nexus 4 has been sold out and how close we're getting to the one-year anniversary of the Nexus 4's announcement, I wouldn't be surprised if we were properly introduced to this thing soon.
