It was right around a week ago that some images of a Space Gray iPad mini 2 leaked out, revealing that Apple is planning to bring the new iPhone 5s color to its next small tablet. With the gray hue appearing on both the refreshed iPhone and iPad mini models, a Space Gray version of the iPad 5 seemed inevitable, and tonight some evidence that such a model is coming has surfaced.
Prolific iOS parts leaker Sonny Dickson has taken to his blog this evening to share a gallery of what he says are photos of the iPad 5's rear panel in both Space Gray and silver. As you can see in the image above, the Space Gray model looks similar to the rear panel of the new iPhone 5s that replaced the black and slate iPhone 5. The leaked photos also add more support to the rumors that Apple's next full-size iPad will take on a design similar to the iPad mini, complete with rounded edges and new speakers.
Following Apple's iPhone event earlier this month, it's expected that the Cupertino firm will hold another event in October to introduce its next iPad and iPad mini models. There's not much in the way of spec information available for either device yet, so it's not clear what kind of upgrades that that new tablets will feature internally. We've got a pretty good idea of what they'll look like on the outside, though, as both the iPad mini 2 and iPad 5 have starred in a number of photo leaks. Tonight we've got another to add to the pile, which if anything serves to help pass the time until Apple makes the things officially official. More iPad 5 rear shell photos can be found over on Sonny Dickson's blog.
