Earlier this month, Google declared "KitKat" as the official dessert of Android 4.4, surprising many and even making a few hungry in the process. Unfortunately for those folks hungry for the new software and not the KitKat, the company didn't say exactly when the next version of Android would be made available. The good news is that the official Nestle KitKat page of Germany isn't feeling quite as tightlipped.
In response to a user question regarding the release of Android 4.4 KitKat, the official German Facebook page for the KitKat candy recently said that "Android 4.4 KIT KAT ist ab Oktober verfügbar." For those of you that aren't quite fluent in German, that translates to "Android 4.4 KIT KAT is available in October." Well alright then.
As is usually the case with incidents like this one, it's worth noting that nothing should be considered official until Google says it is. That said, we've seen that Google and Nestle are teaming up pretty hard on this whole KitKat thing, including running a promotion with Android-branded KitKat wrappers and free Nexus 7 tablets. You'd think that because of this, Nestle would be at least somewhat clued in to Google's plans.
Last year we saw Google make the Nexus 4, Nexus 10 and Android 4.2 official in October, and so it wouldn't exactly be a shock to see the company pull a repeat performance this year. After all, inventory of the Nexus 4 has run dry and the rumor mill is starting to suggest that a new ASUS-made Nexus 10 is coming, so it's possible that the full-on debut of two new devices and Android 4.4 sometime next month. Which of those three upcoming Android goodies are you most looking forward to?
