U.S. Cellular announced today that it'll be the second carrier in the States to add Samsung's Galaxy Mega to its shelves. After confirming its plans to carry the device last month, U.S. Cellular has now revealed that its version of the Galaxy Mega will officially be available online tomorrow, Sept. 17, for $149.99 after instant rebate. The Galaxy Mega will stomp its way into U.S. Cellular's brick and mortar stores on Sept. 19.
Specs for the U.S. Cellular-flavored Galaxy Mega are similar to what's found on the AT&T version that launched last month. That means that buyers can expect to find a 6.3-inch 720p Super Clear LCD screen, 1.7GHz dual-core processor, 8-megapixel rear and 1.9-megapixel front cameras and 1.5GB RAM. A combo of Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and Samsung's TouchWiz UI will come preloaded on the Mega, and the handset will support U.S. Cellular's 4G LTE network, which is expected to cover nearly 90 percent of USCC subscribers by the time that 2013 wraps up.
U.S. Cellular has been adding quite a few notable smartphones to its lineup lately, including the Galaxy Note II, Galaxy S 4 and Moto X, and it's good to see that trend continuing with the arrival of the Galaxy Mega. Obviously the Mega's 6.3-inch display won't appeal to everyone, but having more options when it comes time to buying a new smartphone is always a good thing, ya know?
