With IFA 2013 about to get underway in Berlin, this week is sure to be jam-packed with new hardware from most everyone major player in the mobile game. HTC this morning officially revealed its contributions to the new pile of products, which includes a pair of Desire smartphones, some freshly-painted One models and an accessory.
The first handset introduced today is the Desire 601, a phone that HTC calls "the most advanced mid-range smartphone available on the market today." That's thanks to the fact that the 601 borrows many features from HTC's flagship One handset, including Zoes and BoomSound front-facing speakers.
The HTC Desire 601 sports a 4.5-inch qHD (960x540) display on its face, a 5-megapixel rear with features like HTC Image Chip and Smart Flash, a VGA front-facing shooter and a capacitive button layout similar to what's found on the One. Buried inside of the Desire 601 is a 1.4GHz dual-core Snapdragon 400 processor, 8GB storage, microSD slot, 1GB RAM, 4G LTE connectivity and a 2,100mAh battery. Expect the Desire 601 to begin arriving in EMEA in October with Android and HTC Sense 5 in tow.
Moving down a step, we've got the entry-level HTC Desire 300 and its 4.3-inch WVGA display. HTC has also thrown in a 1GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 5-megapixel rear and VGA front cameras, 4GB storage, microSD slot, 512MB RAM and a 1,650mAh battery to power the whole package. The BlinkFeed home screen of Sense 5 has made the cut into the Desire 300 as well. This entry-level Desire will begin rolling out to unnamed "select markets" in October.
HTC went on to bring an end to all of the
recent leaks that we've seen of a blue One, officially announcing the "Vivid Blue" HTC One and
One mini. The phones look just as you'd expect, sporting a light blue hue that brings some additional color to the One and One mini lineups. Both blue handsets will begin hitting select markets in Q4 2013.
Finally, HTC this morning outed the BoomBass speaker. This Bluetooth accessory includes a subwoofer to help pump out even stronger bass than HTC's BoomSound speakers can produce, and it also includes a small red shelf on which a device can rest while its paired with the BoomBass. There's no word yet on how much this little box will cost, but HTC says that it'll officially go up for sale in mid-October.
Overall it looks like HTC's got itself a pretty wide range of new hardware. The Desire 300 and Desire 601 are coming to help pad the company's the low-end and mid-range rosters, while the blue One and One mini provide new color choices for consumers interested in something a bit more high-end. It's also worth noting that the blue One mini is the first colorful One mini variant we've seen, as the device has only been available in silver and black to date.
