Interested in that Moto X Developer Edition that's apparently nearing release? If so, I've got something that ought to whet your appetite until the phone is actually released.
Motorola has posted an image of the Moto X Developer Edition on the phone's "Ways to Buy" page, teasing that the device is "coming soon" with 32GB of internal storage, an unlockable bootloader and "a look all its own." That suggests that this particular Moto X will be the only non-customized unit to feature a two-tone look that includes a woven white back and a black front. And just in case buyers want another way to show the world that they love to tinker with their Android phones, this Moto X also has the words "Developer Edition" stamped on its backside.
The Sprint, T-Mobile and U.S. Cellular flavors of the Moto X will come with an unlockable bootloader out of the box, allowing buyers of those models to easily hack their phone and load it up with custom ROMs. That won't be the case with other U.S. carrier-branded models, though, and so Motorola will offer a "general North American Developer Edition" of the Moto X (likely a GSM device) as well as a Verizon-friendly model. That may not be quite the same as being able to unlock a standard, operator-branded-model, but it's certainly better than nothing. Now we just have to wait for Motorola to answer the all-important "When?" and "How much?" questions surrounding this tinkerer-focused Moto X.
