The new Nexus 7 was originally slated to go on sale in Google's Play Store on July 30, but apparently some U.S. retailers couldn't wait that long and decided to begin offering the Android 4.3-powered slate today. Now Google has responded by starting up Nexus 7 sales on the Play Store today as well.
Both the 16GB and 32GB versions of the Nexus 7 are available for purchase from the Google Play Store, with orders expected to ship by July 30. Google has decided to include free ground shipping "for a limited time," which features a delivery window of 3-5 business days. Buyers that want their unit a tad faster can pony up $13.99 for 2-day shipping.
The new Nexus 7 is the follow-up to last year's tablet from ASUS and Google. It sports a 7-inch 1920x1200 display, 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, NFC, and 5-megapixel rear and 1.2-megapixel cameras. The version that's currently on sale is the Wi-Fi-only model, but Google is planning to offer a version with 4G LTE support on AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon. Unfortunately for anyone that wants to be connected on the go, there's no word yet on when the $349 LTE model will be available save for a vague "coming weeks" timeframe. If you're feeling impatient or are A-OK with sticking to Wi-Fi, you can hit up the links below and treat yo' self to a shiny new Nexus 7 right now.
