Looks like the list of Moto X model numbers may have just grown by one. A Motorola device that's thought to be the Moto X just passed through the FCC with the model number "XT1053," complete with T-Mobile-friendly HSPA+ and LTE connectivity. The XT1053's model number is close to the numbers of the AT&T (XT1058), Sprint (XT1056) and Verizon (XT1060) Moto X variants, and it also packs the same SNN5923A 2,200mAh battery that's expected to power the Moto X.
Motorola CEO Dennis Woodside confirmed the Moto X's existence earlier this year, but the executive didn't divulge which U.S. carriers the device would be arriving on. The rumor mill has suggested that all four major U.S. operators will be stocking the device, but that piece of intel has yet to be confirmed.
It's possible that the XT1053 could be the final piece of the four-part Moto X carrier puzzle, but as Engadget notes, the fact that this model also supports AT&T's airwaves means that it could just be an unlocked model that would be sold straight to consumers. The good news is that even if that does happen, the Magenta Army will still be able to get a Moto X that will play nicely with their carrier's network. August 1 can't come quickly enough, amirite?
