Ting has been promising that Windows Phone 8 was coming soon to its service for quite a while now, and today the Sprint MVNO finally delivered. Ting today announced that it's now accepting pre-orders for the HTC 8XT, the very same Windows Phone 8 handset that Sprint will begin selling tomorrow.
The HTC 8XT features a 4.3-inch 800x480 display, 1.6-megapixel camera, and BoomSound speakers on its face, as well as an 8-megapixel camera on its backside. Buried beneath its Live Tiles is 8GB storage, a microSD slot, 1GB RAM, and support for Sprint's 4G LTE network. Consumers interested in snagging the very first Windows Phone 8 handset on Ting can plan on paying $373 to do so. Ting estimates that pre-orders will ship in 2-4 weeks, so it won't be too long before buyers are having sound blasted at their face by the 8XT's front-facing speakers.
Ting's device selection has come pretty far ever since the service first launched in February 2012. The operator currently stocks several high-end Android handsets, including the Samsung Galaxy S 4 and HTC One, many of which also support Sprint's LTE network. The arrival of the HTC 8XT is significant not only because Ting's LTE-capable lineup is growing again, but also because it's now got a Windows Phone representative on its digital shelves. And for those Ting folk that would prefer a different WP8 device, the operator says that it's planning to add a Samsung ATIV (probably the S Neo) to its lineup soon.
