U.S. Cellular hasn't been very talkative about its Windows Phone 8 plans save for a quick tease that a WP8 device is coming soon, but the same can't be said for the carrier's official Twitter support account. PhoneDog reader Sean recently alerted me to a tweet from the @USCellularCares account that confirms the the Samsung ATIV Odyssey as the Windows Phone 8 device that U.S. Cellular has in its pipeline. The same @USCellularCares account revealed last week that it would be launching its first Windows Phone 8 handset in July.
Originally launched on Verizon in early January, the Samsung ATIV Odyssey features a 4-inch 800x480 Super AMOLED display, 5-megapixel rear and 1.2-megapixel front cameras, 1.5GHz dual-core processor and 8GB of built-in storage. We actually first got wind of a U.S. Cellular version of the ATIV Odyssey thanks to a set of images that leaked out last month, but these tweets are the first time that U.S. Cellular itself has mentioned the device. Now we just have to wait for U.S. Cellular to make an official announcement on its launch plans for the ATIV Odyssey, which should be along soon if the phone is indeed hitting shelves in July.
@TheWinPhan I'm ecstatic you're thinking of restarting service w/ us! Soon we will release the Samsung ATIV Odyssey W8 device! ^JM
