Last month, AT&T partnered with Pensa and Goal Zero to launch the Street Charge program, an initiative that would see the three companies roll out solar-powered charging stations across New York City's five boroughs. The stations were initially available at places like Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Pier I and Union Square Park, and today AT&T announced that it has added its Street Charge stations to eight new NYC locations. Among the new locales are Coney Island and Rockaway, Brighton and Manhattan Beaches. The full list of current Street Charge locations is as follows:
Considering that summer is officially here and many city residents are likely to be hitting up the various New York City beaches, it's good to see AT&T and its partners giving those beachgoers the opportunity juice up their phones, tablets and eReaders. AT&T says that its Street Charge stations will stay at each location for three to four weeks and that the charging stands will also be making their way to places like La Tourette Golf Course, the Staten Island Zoo, Clearview Golf Course, the Dumbo Arts Festival and the Brooklyn Book Festival through September.
