Nokia is expected to officially unveil the Lumia 1020 and its 41-megapixel camera later this week, but it appears that Windows Phone chief Joe Belfiore has already spent some quality time with the device. As noted by The Verge, a couple of photos in Belfiore's personal Flickr stream appear to have been taken with the unannounced Lumia. The shots, which were taken on June 29, have EXIF data that list the "Nokia Lumia 1020" as the camera used to capture the photos. The resolutions of the images are 2352x1568 (3.7 megapixels) and 2947x1658 (4.9 megapixels).
The Lumia 1020 has gone by the codename "Nokia EOS" in recent months, it's been unclear what the handset's official name would be. Now that we're just days away from the event at which Nokia's new Lumia will likely be introduced, it looks like "Lumia 1020" is the winning name. As for the rest of the device, the Lumia 1020 is rumored to feature a 1280x768 OLED display, 32GB storage and the aforementioned 41-megapixel PureView camera. A U.S. release on AT&T is expected to be in the works, but the rest of the Lumia 1020's availability is still a mystery. Good thing that we've only got a few more days until all is finally made official.
