Heads up, BlackBerry Z10 owners on Verizon, because it looks like you've got a major update headed your way. Verizon recently posted official support documents for its Z10's update to BlackBerry 10.1, which will bring the device to OS 10.1.0.2050 (software version 10.1.0.2014). As expected, the BlackBerry 10.1 update is a beefy one, packing in goodies like HDR capabilities in the Camera app and improved attachment support for the BlackBerry Hub. Verizon hasn't made any official announcements about this update, so it's not yet clear exactly when Z10 owners will begin seeing it on their handsets. In the past, we've seen updates begin rolling out within a few days of the appearance of their related support documents, so it's possible that Verizon's Z10 could be bumped up in the very near future. Considering that this is a pretty huge update, you Z10 folk may want to keep an eye out for an update notification in the coming days.

• Volume control using volume keys 

HUB

• Receiving and reading emails with attached content

CAMERA

• High Dynamic Range (HDR) Mode for greater span between light and dark areas of an image

MOBILE HOTSPOT

• Access 802.11n (default bands are 802.11gn) and can be set to 802.11bgn

IMPROVEMENTS MADE TO VOICE SERVICES:

• Answer incoming calls while using Three Way Conference Calls, even when attendees drop off call
• Toggle between calls without the call dropping or failing when using Call Waiting
• The correct number of voicemails will now display when using Visual Voicemail LED
• Missed Calls will display the correct contact’s name if saved in phonebook.
• Improvements to Emergency Call Mode when using Wi-Fi
• Cut, copy and paste phone numbers into dialer screen

IMPROVEMENTS MADE TO EMAIL AND MESSAGING SERVICES:

• Accuracy has been improved when receiving BBM Messages and Notifications
• Access email service over IMAP and SMTP
• Account Settings no longer requires you to re-enter email password
• Reduced SIM Card error messages
• Email messages will be received in real-time, without having to re-enter email password in Account Settings
• Email Notifications will appear only when new emails are received
• Delivery/reliability have been improved when sending/receiving single and group text messages

IMPROVEMENTS MADE TO APPLICATIONS:

• Deleted applications will be removed and no longer remain on device
• Facebook no longer appears in Hub once account is deleted from device
• Calendar Application and Hub connectivity and reliability have been improved

ADDITIONAL IMPROVEMENTS:

• Reliability and connectivity have been improved while streaming music on Slacker Radio
• Battery life has been improved when in LTE Standby mode
• Frequency of device resets has been reduced
• Responsiveness and connectivity have been improved when using Backup Assistant
• Responsiveness has been improved when unlocking device with finger swipe
• Pictures will be displayed properly when using Bing.com Search Engine
• Speed of screen re-orientation has been improved when switching from Portrait to Landscape mode
• Support for portrait and landscape mode in all modes
• Authentication and connectivity issues have been reduced
• Improved accuracy and location fix when using BlackBerry Maps
