After first popping up on our radar right around a month ago, the Verizon-branded Galaxy S 4 Developer Edition has quietly made its way into Samsung's online shop. This Galaxy S 4 is identical to the existing Verizon model in terms of specs, meaning that it's packing a 5-inch 1080p display, 13-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front cameras and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. The one big major difference with the Galaxy S 4 Developer Edition is that it features an easily-unlockable bootloader, allowing owners to tinker with their device and load custom ROMs.
The Galaxy S 4 that's being offered as a Developer Edition by Samsung is the 16GB Black Mist model, and pricing for the unit is set at $649.99. That's the same price that Verizon is currently asking for its regular 16GB Galaxy S 4 without a commitment. Of course, consumers interested in the Galaxy S 4 Developer Edition won't be able to get a discount on the device by signing a contract like they could with the normal model. The price tag may be steep, but for anyone that wants to hack a Galaxy S 4 and is unable to switch away from Verizon for the Google Edition variant, this Galaxy S 4 Developer Edition is one option to consider.
