Less than a week after introducing the Lumia 928 for Verizon, Nokia is expected to introduce another new Windows Phone-powered Lumia smartphone at its upcoming event in London. The Finnish firm hasn't said exactly what it's got up its sleeve for the big shindig, but just like it did in the days leading up to its Lumia 928 announcement, Nokia has started to tease the new hardware that it's planning to announce in London.
In the short commercial, which originally aired as a commercial on U.K. TV and has been posted to YouTube by The Verge, Nokia shows the backside of a handset with a circular hump surrounding a camera lens as well as a flash right next to it. The tagline "More than your eyes can see" is also shown through the teaser, and the clip ends with the words "The new Nokia Lumia is coming."
There's not a ton of this mysterious Lumia shown in the promotional video, but the portion that we can see looks similar to the backside of that aluminum-bodied Catwalk that leaked out in April. While it was unclear at that time if the device was indeed a legit Nokia product, The Verge claims that it is the real deal. The site adds that the Nokia "EOS," another Lumia model that's rumored to be coming with a 41-megapixel camera sensor, will feature a design that's similar to this Catwalk.
Nokia has used polycarbonate materials to make many of its recent smartphones, with the N9 and Lumia 800 being the first couple of devices to kick off the trend. Before that, though, the company used aluminum with its Symbian-powered N8. Now it appears that Nokia will be making a return to aluminum smartphone frames with this rumored Catwalk device.
Considering how many polycarbonate devices we've seen Nokia churn out lately, it'll be interested to see exactly what the firm does with its return to an aluminum body. Thankfully we don't have long to wait, as Nokia's big event is going down on May 14. Until then, you can find another screengrab from the ad as well as the video itself below.
UPDATE: Nokia has now posted its own, higher-res version of the promo video to YouTube. It can be found below.
