The HTC One isn't a stranger to delays, as HTC confirmed last month that some shipments of the device were being delayed due to component shortages. Now it looks like some versions of the One are facing more shipping issues.
HTC's ShopAmerica arm has sent out emails to buyers of the unlocked and Developer Edition versions of the One to alert them to a "slight delay" in shipments of those two models. According to an email received by Android Central, HTC expects to have the phone delivered to buyers before the end of April. The wait for Double Dip cases will be a bit longer, as HTC says that they won't be receiving the cases until mid-May.
HTC's One is now available for purchase from both AT&T and Sprint, and the company previously said that buyers of the Developer Edition would begin receiving their units today as well. It looks like that may not be the case now, though, which is a bummer both because all delays are disappointing and because buyers of the unlocked and Dev Edition models paid quite a bit of cash for their units. There's no word on exactly what the cause of this latest delay is, but here's to hoping that HTC can get this situation ironed out quickly and that it can indeed get the devices out to buyers before the calendar flips over to April.
As a quick note, it appears that anyone interested in placing a new order for an unlocked or Developer Edition HTC One will be waiting until the end of April or early May for their units. HTC's ShopAmerica page currently lists both models as "Out of Stock," adding that the next shipment is expected on April 29. The unlocked HTC One is a SIM-unlocked version of HTC's flagship that's priced at $574.99, while the Developer Edition model is priced at $649.99 and is both SIM and bootloader unlocked. UPDATE: In a statement sent to Android Central, HTC explains that its running into "unforeseen delays" with its shipments and that the latest deliveries will arrive before the end of April. The cause of the delay, according to Android Central, is that nationwide shipping has been affected by various non-production issues, including the recent events in Boston. HTC's full statement is as follows:
"We're excited that the new HTC One is now available through AT&T, Sprint T-Mobile and numerous national retail partners; however, we are experiencing unforeseen delays with shipping for the pre-ordered the 32GB SIM-unlocked and 64GB developer edition. We are working to fullfill orders as quickly as possible but the latest delivery for any customers will be before the end of April. We apologize to these customers for the delay. We know there is a lot of excitement for this phone and we can't wait to get this device into all of our customers' hands."
