Samsung today officially announced the availability details for its Galaxy Note 8.0 tablet that was first introduced at MWC 2013 in February. The 8-inch slate will be hitting U.S. shelves on April 11, complete with a price tag of $399.99. The list of stores that'll stock the Galaxy Note 8.0 include Amazon, Best Buy, Best Buy Mobile, Newegg, Staples and more. Samsung says that accessories for the Galaxy Note 8.0, including book covers in several colors as well as USB and HDMI adapters, are all expected to be available for purchase in mid-April.
As its name suggests, the Galaxy Note 8.0 features an 8-inch display with a resolution of 1280x800. Also included is a 5-megapixel rear camera, 1.3-megapixel front-facing shooter, 1.6GHz quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, microSD card slot and a 4,600mAh battery powering the whole show. Expect the S Pen-toting tablet to come with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean installed beneath Samsung's TouchWiz overlay.
Samsung already offers Galaxy Note-branded devices in 5.5-inch and 10.1-inch screen sizes, so the Galaxy Note 8.0 looks to be a nice middle ground for folks that want one of the company's stylus-equipped slates but find the current models don't fit their needs. The good news is that while most folks will need to wait until April 11 to get their hands on the Galaxy Note 8.0 and its S Pen, our fearless leader Aaron Baker has managed to get hold of one early and unbox it on video, giving interested customers something to watch for the next couple of days.
