The stream of Jelly Bean updates for the U.S. Samsung Galaxy S II variants just keeps on flowing, with the latest lucky recipient being AT&T's Galaxy S II Skyrocket. Samsung today revealed the Skyrocket's bump up to Jelly Bean with an official support page for the update. The update brings the Skyrocket up to Android 4.1.2, baseband version I727UCMC1, and includes the usual Jelly Bean enhancements such as Google Now, improved call quality and some new AT&T apps like Drive Mode and AT&T Locker. The update also removes the Qik and MSpot apps.
As with the Android 4.1 updates for the Sprint and T-Mobile Galaxy S II variants, it appears that the AT&T Galaxy S II Skyrocket's update is only available through Samsung's Kies software, likely due to its size. Samsung Kies is available for both Windows and Mac and can be found right here.
The news spotlight hasn't really been on the Galaxy S II Skyrocket since its update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, which rolled out way back in July 2012. The Skyrocket is back today, though, and I'm sure that owners of AT&T's second Galaxy S II variant are glad to see that they're next in the GSII Jelly Bean line. We're still waiting for an official announcement from AT&T concerning the Skyrocket's admission to Club Jelly Bean, but one XDA-developers forum user claims to have already updated using Samsung Kies, so any Skyrocket owners out there may want to plug their handset into their computer and fire up Kies to see if they've got any tasty treats waiting for them.
