Another device is getting updated to Android 4.2 starting today, but unlike with previous recipients of 4.2, this product doesn't go by the name "Nexus." ASUS announced this morning that its Transformer Pad TF300 will be updated to Android 4.2 in the U.S. starting today, with the update making its way to other parts of the globe later on in March. Included with this update are tweaks for improved performance and stability as well as some new features, including multi-user support.
ASUS has been fairly quick in getting the newest versions of Android onto its products in the past, so it's no surprise to see the company make the Transformer Pad TF300 the first non-Nexus device to be officially updated to the Android 4.2.2. The good news is that the updates for several other ASUS tablets aren't far off, as Transformer Pad Infinity, MeMO Pad Smart 10-inch and MeMO Pad are all slated to receive the newest version of Jelly Bean in the second quarter of 2013. Until then, though, Transformer Pad TF300 users have a little something to gloat about while in the presence of owners of other Android slates. Good thing there's multi-user login support in 4.2.2 so that those folk can at least give the new software a try while they wait for their own update to come.
