Early last month, a leaked render gave us a peek at the Pantech Perception, an Android-powered smartphone that's headed to Verizon. We haven't heard much about the Perception since then, but today the device was spotted in a filing on the Federal Communications Commission website. The entry contains both the Perception's user manual that confirms the phone's name, and there are also several photos of the Perception's exterior in it as well. We can glean from the various parts of the FCC listing that the Perception includes an 8-megapixel camera, 4G LTE connectivity, NFC and a microSD slot with support for cards up to 32GB in size.
In addition to the specs revealed by this new FCC entry, the aforementioned leak that came to us in January claimed that the Pantech Perception will tout a 720p display of unknown size and a 1.5GHz dual-core processor. Obviously those details are still unconfirmed, but if the rumored specs hold true and the Perception lands at Verizon at a price similar to its $49.99 Discover sibling on AT&T, the Perception could be a nice option for folks in the market for an affordable smartphone on Big Red. The Perception is reportedly due to launch on Verizon sometime in the first quarter, and now that it's passed through the FCC, it's one step closer to finding a spot on its carrier's shelves.
