Time to admit another Android device to Club Jelly Bean. According to reports from SamMobile and XDA-developers forum members, Samsung has begun rolling out an update to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean to the international Galaxy Note (GT-N7000) in some parts of the globe. So far it looks like residents of Germany, Hong Kong and Taiwan are all receiving Jelly Bean on their Galaxy Note models. SamMobile says that the update is rolling out both over the air and through Samsung's Kies computer software.
As far as what's included in this update, Galaxy Note owners can expect to find several Jelly Bean goodies as well as the Samsung-specific tweaks that the company outlined as part of its Premium Suite upgrade last year. That means that international Galaxy Note owners now have access to Google Now and the smoother operation that Project Butter brings, Multi-Window functionality that allows users to run two apps on-screen at the same time (just like the Note II), and a user-customizable Notification Panel.
Samsung's original Galaxy Note isn't exactly the freshest Android phone in the world, having been introduced in September 2011 and then launched shortly thereafter. That's why it's good to see Samsung treating the OG Note to a Jelly Bean treat, not only because moving from Android 4.0 to 4.1 is a nice jump that brings several notable features, but also because this update also includes Samsung's newer Nature UX that we've seen on the Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note II. While there's no word yet on when we might see the AT&T and T-Mobile-branded Galaxy Note models get their own Jelly Bean bump, the fact that the update has begun rolling out to international units gives AT&T and T-Mo folk something to get excited about. We'll give you a shout once we hear more about U.S.-specific Galaxy Note update info.
