After giving us an official tease of its new 5.5-inch Optimus G Pro earlier this week, LG tonight officially spilled the (jelly) beans on its upcoming flagship smartphone. In addition to that 5.5-inch 1920x1080 IPS display, this Optimus G Pro touts a 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor, which makes it the first smartphone to pack the recently-announced chip. The Snapdragon 600 is expected to offer improved performance over the quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor that's found in the original Optimus G as well as reduced power consumption. Compared to the 5-inch Optimus G Pro that was announced for Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo in January, this new model touts a slightly larger display and battery as well as that new Snapdragon 600 processor. Sounds like some nice improvements to me. The Optimus G Pro is expected to hit Korean carriers SK Telecom, KT and LG Uplus on Wednesday, and LG says that launches in Japan and then North America in the second quarter. There's no mention of any U.S.-specific information, but for anyone that's itching to give the Optimus G Pro sandwich that is a Snapdragon 600 CPU in-between a 5.5-inch 1080p display and Nexus 4-like rear, the fact that a North American release is planned is a good start.
