After leaking out both in press images and on video, the ASUS MeMO Pad Smart has been given an official introduction. Serving as the bigger sibling to the 7-inch MeMO Pad that was announced in January, the MeMO Pad Smart boasts a higher-end spec list that includes a 10.1-inch display and a 1.2GHz quad-core Tegra 3 processor. The full rundown of the MeMO Pad Smart's spec list is as follows:
ASUS has said that the MeMO Pad Smart features an MSRP of $299, but the company hasn't divulged any information on when interested customers will be able to plunk down the cash to take one of these units home. Once it does actually hit store shelves, the MeMO Pad Smart looks like it could be worth checking out for anyone in the market for an affordable 10-inch Android tablet, especially since its packing Android Jelly Bean right out of the box.
Along with the MeMO Pad Smart, ASUS announced a new Folio Key accessory for the new 10.1-inch tablet. The company says that the Folio key is a "wrap-around protective cover" for the MeMO Pad Smart that attaches to the device magnetically and is made of microfiber materials. As one might guess from the name, the Folio Key includes a Bluetooth keyboard that can be used when the MeMO Pad Smart's on-screen keyboard just won't cut it, and it also can function as a stand to prop the device up on a flat surface. The Folio Key features an internal battery that ASUS says will last up to one month on a single charge. There's no mention in ASUS's announcement of pricing for the Folio Key, but online retailer ExcaliburPC has the accessory listed for $129.99. Check out a couple of images of the Folio Key below.
