One portion of Apple and Amazon's App Store/Appstore battle may have been taken care of earlier this month, but there's still plenty of battling left to do in this case. Before the two companies can begin duking it out in the courtroom, though, they must first attempt to reach a settlement. As noted by AllThingsD, U.S. Magistrate Judge Elizabeth Laporte has ordered both Apple and Amazon to hold settlement talks on March 21, and executives with the power to reach a resolution will be in attendance. 

Apple and Amazon have been going at it for nearly two years now, with Apple arguing that Amazon has infringed its "App Store" trademark with the Amazon Appstore for Android apps, while Amazon claims that the term "App Store" is too generic to be trademarked. So far it seems that Amazon has had a bit more luck in the case since it recently got Apple's false advertising claim tossed, but that doesn't mean that Apple will stop fighting for its App Store to prevail. Of course, there's a chance that all of this could be settled in March, but if it isn't (and I wouldn't hold my breath that it will), Apple and Amazon's trial will be kicking off on Aug. 19.
