When Sony officially introduced the Xperia Z and Xperia ZL at CES 2013, the company said that the Xperia Z would be offered in black, white and purple, but the only colors named for the Xperia ZL were black and white. It looks like the ZL will be getting a third color just like its sibling, though, as photos of a red Xperia ZL have made their way online courtesy of Xperia Blog. The unit features a red rear along with red accents on its side, and flipping the phone over reveals a black front.
While Sony made no mention of a red Xperia ZL in its announcement of the handset, a blog post on the company's official Developer World blog does say that the ZL will be offered in black, white and red. It's not clear when or if Sony might offer this red version of the Xperia ZL, but Xperia Blog was apparently told by a Sony representative at an event in Southeast Asia that the device is a prototype and that it won't see a global release. While that'd definitely be a bummer if it turns out to be the case, I'll continue to hold out hope that it'll see the fluorescent light of a store some day, possibly as some sort of carrier exclusive. Would any of you open your wallet for this red Xperia ZL if it were made available in your country/on your carrier?
