MetroPCS decided that this fine Thursday morning was a good time to expand its roster of LTE-capable handsets, as the company has made the ZTE Avid 4G officially official. After first popping up on our radar a little over a month ago, the Avid 4G is now available for purchase both online and in MetroPCS stores, with pricing set at $149 plus tax. The LTE rate plans Avid 4G owners can sign up for range in price from $40 to $70, and Metro is currently offering promotional $30 and $55 LTE plans as well.
On the spec side of things, interested customers can expect to find a 4-inch 800x480 touchscreen on the Avid 4G, along with a 1.2GHz dual-core processor that's buried inside the handset. Also included are 5-megapixel rear and VGA front cameras, support for mobile hotspot and MetroPCS's joyn chatting service, 2.3GB of internal memory, microSD card slot, 1,730mAh battery and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The Avid 4G's price tag is lower than many of MetroPCS's other LTE-capable handsets, meaning that Metro customers in the hunt for an affordable LTE smartphone now have a new option to consider.
