It's certainly been a while since AT&T's version of the Samsung Galaxy S II (not Skyrocket) has been in the news, but this morning both it and its owners are getting a little time in the spotlight. The Galaxy S II is now on the receiving end of a software update that features the build number LK3 and bumps the handset up to Android 4.0.4. According to an AT&T support page, the update brings with it an improved AT&T application launch process, an EAS/Office 365 pop-up security fix and updates for the device's Google apps.
This appears to be a small maintenance update for the Galaxy S II, but considering the phone's age (is that the start of a gray beard that I see?) and the length of time since it last got a taste of some new software, this update is a welcome sight. Anyone out there rockin' an AT&T GSII can snag the update through Samsung's Kies software, and AT&T says that it can also be installed over the air by going into Settings > Software update > Check for Updates if you don't feel like going through all the effort of getting up, getting a USB cable and plugging the phone into a computer. Go and get it, Galaxy S II owners!
