Both the HTC DROID DNA and the Verizon flavor of the Samsung Galaxy Note II are fairly fresh devices, having hit store shelves in the past couple of weeks, but that doesn't mean that customers interested in picking one of them up can't do so while also saving some cash. The DROID DNA is currently being offered by Amazon for $149.99 with a two-year contract, which is $50 less than Verizon is asking for the device. That price is good for both new and upgrading customers, though buyers will have to have a bit of patience when it comes to actually getting their new phone, as the DNA is currently backordered on Amazon and expected to ship out in one to two weeks.

Verizon folk looking for a handset larger than the DNA will be glad to hear that the Galaxy Note II is also being discounted by Amazon. Both the Marble White and Titanium Gray models are priced at $279.99 for new and upgrading customers, a full $20 less than Verizon's price. Unfortunately, both versions of the Note II are also backordered, with new orders expected to ship in one to two weeks.

While neither discount being offered by Amazon is huge, any savings that can be had when buying a new mobile phone are good to see, especially when it comes to new, high-end handsets like the DROID DNA and Galaxy Note II. Sure, you may have to wait a week or two to actually get your handset, but that feeling that you'll get from the knowledge that you saved a chunk of change on that new device could very well make the wait worth it.
