Nearly two weeks after we got an early peek at the Samsung Galaxy Axiom for U.S. Cellular, the new smartphone has officially been made available for purchase. U.S. Cellular has announced that the Galaxy Axiom is now available online, while those that prefer brick and mortar to keyboards and screens should be able to pick one up at "select retail locations" at the end of this week. The Galaxy Axiom is priced at $399.99 full retail or $79.99 with a two-year contract on U.S. Cellular's website, though the carrier does say that price varies by location, so you'll need to mosey on over to its product page and enter your zip to find out how much the Axiom will cost in your neck of the woods.
When it comes to specs, the Galaxy Axiom appears to be pretty similar to the description in a leaked report from earlier this month. It touts a 4-inch 800x480 display, 5-megapixel rear and 1.3-megapixel front cameras, 4GB internal storage, microSD card slot, 4G LTE connectivity and a 2,100mAh battery. Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich comes preloaded on the Axiom, and "Wallet" is also listed as a preloaded app, which makes sense considering the Axiom's NFC support and the fact that Google Wallet is supported on the U.S. Cellular Galaxy S III. With its 4-inch display, the Axiom looks like a device that may be worth checking out for customers that want to get themselves some 4G action on a device that's on the smaller end of U.S. Cellular's LTE lineup.
