A little bit of a shakeup this week as the iPhone 5 falls from the top spot to the newly introduced Nexus 4 from LG. It's a beauty of a device with clean edges and the oh-so-important stock Android software from Google filled with promises of first in line for updates. If there was a downside, the glass back has us concerned that the device may be susceptible to cracking with some hard falls, but it certainly does nothing to take away our appreciation of how slick the device is software wise. This is Android at its best. 

The iPhone 5 falls to number 2, but its just a slim lead for the Nexus 4 as the strong camera, ultra-reliable iOS software and wonderful app selection guarantee the iPhone 5 a place close to the top. 

The Note II may be the second best Android device on the market, with its size being the only limiting factor. This is a powerful device with appeal to both business users, gamers and soccer moms alike. Still, it's a try before you buy. 

The Nokia Lumia 920 and HTC 8X round out the 4 and 5 positions with their introduction as flagship Windows Phone 8 devices. They are beautiful pieces of hardware, limited by an underwhelming app market. If the apps come to Windows Phone 8 and Microsoft can convince developers to put significant effort into apps here, the hardware is ready to impress.

This weeks ratings have unlikely underdogs in the top spot. Nokia takes the number one spot with its second iteration of the Lumia flagship series with the Nokia Lumia 920. Nokia is packing a tremendous amount of technology in the device and AT&T offering for just $99.99 helps the odds as well. 

Amazon is offering the device at an even lower price of $49.99. If Windows Phone 8 can be marketed well, Microsoft may find themselves sitting comfortably in the top smartphone seat.

Best on the market: the iPhone 5! For ease-of-use, multitude of apps, and LTE coverage. It does have spaces to be filled, but of the smartphones for the 'average' consumer, it's the best.

The Galaxy Note II is an executive-esque smartphone with S Pen stylus, designed to be a tablet and phone in one. Considering that, and LTE on AT&T, that's very convenient. 

The SGS 3. A super popular Android smartphone, it's a smaller version of the Note II, but is worth it. In fact, it's currently Android's most popular handset.

The Nexus 4 is Google's latest shot at getting a new Nexus device out there. It's built by LG, is sleek, and sports the latest version of Android. If you want to be unique, then get this.

Nokia's Lumia 920 is the last hurrah for Windows Phone. Beautiful, versatile, but heavy, there's few phones out there like it
