Microsoft talked up new Windows Phone 8 devices from AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint at a recent launch event for its new mobile OS, but one carrier that's been fairly silent about Windows Phone 8 for a while now is Sprint. That changes today, as the carrier has confirmed to PCMag that it plans to begin offering Windows Phone 8 next year. Details on the product(s) that Hesse and Co. plan to offer are still light, including when they'll be launching, but Sprint did say that there will be hardware that operates on the Sprint 4G LTE network. The carrier's full statement:
"Sprint and Microsoft are partnering to bring Windows Phone 8 to Sprint's customers - operating on its 4G LTE network - next year."
A Sprint executive said back in May that he was "still bullish" on Windows Phone 8, but the Now Network was noticeably absent any time that Microsoft would talk up the new Windows Phone 8 devices that were headed to U.S. carriers. Sprint has only launched one Windows Phone handset to date, releasing the HTC Arrive way back in March 2011. While Windows Phone 8-hungry Sprint customers still have at least a couple of months' wait before they'll see any new products on their carrier's shelves, at least they finally know that there's something in the pipeline. How many of you Sprint folk out there looking forward to the arrival of LTE-enabled Windows Phone 8 hardware?
