Looks like we can finally add the fourth major U.S. carrier to the list of operators with support for Google Play carrier billing. Just a couple of days after a leaked image showed that Verizon customers would be able to bill their Google Play purchases to their monthly phone bill starting on October 18, Google has confirmed the news on its official Google Play Twitter account. The big G says that the feature will be rolling out "over the coming weeks," so Android-toting Verizon customers ought to look for the carrier billing option the next time that they're making a purchase in the Google Play store.
As I noted previously, support for carrier billing in the store formerly known as Android Market is already available on the other three big U.S. carriers, and has been for a while. Still, it's good to see the feature finally being made available to Verizon customers. It may not be something that everyone uses, but for folks that don't want to or can't enter payment information into the Play store, at least the option to simply add a purchase to their monthly Verizon bill will now be there. Happy spending!
