Ever since Microsoft first unveiled its Surface tablets in early June, there's been a lot of speculation around what the company might charge for its new slates. Today we've finally got some solid pricing details for the Surface, as Microsoft has put the Surface with Windows RT up on its official online store. The 32GB Surface with Windows RT without a black Touch Cover is priced at $499, while those folks interested in adding that keyboard cover can expect to pay $599 for the bundle. Doubling the storage to 64GB and keeping the Touch Cover brings the total up to $699. The Surface Touch Cover and Type Cover, the latter of which features moving keys, are also listed separately for an additional $119.99 or $129.99, respectively.
Up until now, the only pricing details that Microsoft had announced for its Surface with Windows RT was that the cost would be "competitive with a comparable ARM tablet," so it's nice to finally get some actual numbers to attach to the tablet. Surface is set to launch on October 26, with the Intel-powered version expected around 90 days after. Microsoft's online store is currently telling visitors that they can pre-order a Surface with Windows RT "for delivery by 10/26." However, all three versions are currently listed as "Out of stock," so anyone interested in snagging a model for day one delivery may want to keep refreshing Microsoft's shop. UPDATE: Microsoft has officially announced the Surface with Windows RT availability details. The 32GB model will be priced at $499, the 32GB bundled with a black Touch Cover will cost $599 and the 64GB Surface with a black Touch Cover will be priced at $699. The Touch Cover itself will be available in black, white, magenta, cyan and red for $119.99, while a black Type Cover with moving keys will cost $129.99. Pre-orders for the Surface with Windows RT will go live at 9 a.m. PT today, and the device will launch on October 26.
