Heads up, Sony Xperia ion owners, because there's an Ice Cream Sandwich headed your way. AT&T announced today on its Consumer Blog that the Xperia ion's update to Android 4.0 is now available for download. Besides bringing the Xperia ion up to ICS, the update also includes Exchange Active Sync upgrades, calendar and email status indication enhancements and tweaks to improve Wi-Fi and Mobile Hotspot speeds.
So how do you get in on all this update-y goodness? Xperia ion owners will need to plug their handset into their computer and run one of Sony's pieces of computer software, either PC Companion or Bridge for Mac, and then install the update that way. While updating this way may not be quite as simple as installing via an over the air update, the bump to Android 4.0 and all of the improvements that'll come with it are likely going to be worth your effort. As usual, we'd love to hear from you Xperia ion folk in the comments below once you get ICS up and running on your device!
