Today's a big day for owners of the Verizon Galaxy Nexus. Not only is it a Friday (hooray weekend!), but Verizon has also posted the support documents for the Galaxy Nexus's update to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The update weighs in at 146.6MB and will bring users up to software version JRO03O. As expected, the update brings with it Jelly Bean goodies like Google Now and expandable notifications, and Galaxy Nexus owners can also expect various other stability and performance improvements. Google began pushing Jelly Bean to the HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus in early July, while the Sprint model got its own Android 4.1 update earlier this month. That makes Verizon's Galaxy Nexus third in line to receive its taste of Google's latest OS, which is kind of a bummer for folks that opted for that model. The update has finally begun making its way to users today, though, so if you've got a Verizon Galaxy Nexus, head on in to Settings > About phone > System updates > Check now and see if you've got Jelly Bean waiting for you. 

UPDATE: Verizon has officially announced the Galaxy Nexus Jelly Bean update. The carrier says that the update will be rolled out in phases over Wi-Fi only, so be sure to find a Wi-Fi connection before trying to install it.

• Personalize your home screen easily by placing widgets directly on the screen.
• Widgets now resize automatically when they are too big.
• Swipe over from camera to filmstrip view photos you just took, and quickly swipe away the ones you don’t like.
• When Talkback is enabled, the “Explore by Touch tutorial” will be enabled.
• When Talkback is “On”, new screen gesture “shortcuts” will be enabled.

Android Beam

• Easily share your photos and videos with other NFC capable devices running Android 4.1, Jelly Bean, with just a simple tap, in addition to sharing contacts, web pages, YouTube videos, directions, and apps.

Stability and Performance Improvements

• Users can now choose if pressing the power key will lock the device or not.
• Proper structure order for folders within email in now available.
• MMS messages sent to an Outlook E-mail address now have a file extension allowing the image to be opened.
• Added Commercial Mobile Alert System (CMAS) support.
