Today a new mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) entered the mobile fray, as a company called Solavei has officially launched. Solavei operates using T-Mobile's HSPA+ network and offers customers unlimited talk, text and data for $49. Customers can bring their own unlocked GSM device or purchase one from Solavei, which offers devices like the ZTE Origin and HTC One S for $159 and $529, respectively. Customers can also make make money from Solavei when they convince friends to sign up for the service. For every "trio" that a customer gets to join Solavei, they earn $20, and customers can also get money as their network of referrals grows. Jim Ryan, Solavei's product head, says that the company started with 12 reps and is now up to 25,000 customers, 93 percent of which referred Solavei to their friends.
It's also worth noting that while Solavei currently operates on T-Mobile's HSPA+ network, the MVNO plans to utilize Magenta's LTE network once it's up and running, which is expected to start happening in 2013. With service priced at just $49 per month for unlimited talk, text and data, Solavei sounds like it could be worth looking into if you're considering switching carriers and have T-Mobile coverage in your area.
