The Samsung Galaxy S III isn't exactly an old handset yet, having launched at the end of May, but that hasn't stopped rumors of its successor from already making their way online. According to alleged company officials and parts suppliers speaking to The Korea Times, Samsung is planning to introduce the Samsung Galaxy S IV at Mobile World Congress, which is taking place in February of next year. A launch would reportedly follow in March. The Galaxy S IV is rumored to feature an Exynos processor, LTE connectivity and a 5-inch display.
Both the original Samsung Galaxy S and the Galaxy S II were introduced early on in their respective debut years, but Samsung switch things up a bit with the S III this year, opting to take the wraps off of the device in May. One would expect Samsung to follow a yearly cycle and debut the Galaxy S IV sometime around May next year, but this new report claims that we'll be seeing it just nine months after the Galaxy S III. While there's no mention as to why Samsung might be planning a February unveiling for the S IV, it's possible that the company may want to give itself more time on store shelves to rack up sales ahead of the debut of competition like Apple's next iPhone, giving it a chance to see sales figures that are even better than the ones that the S III recently put up. Of course, it's also entirely possible that the S IV will come in May next year, so for now this is simply a rumor to keep in the back of your mind.
