Amazon is holding an event next week at which the company is expected to take the wraps off of its successor to the Kindle Fire, but it looks like we don't have to wait that long to get a look at what may be the new device. An image sent to The Verge claims to show Amazon's next Kindle Fire, complete with a camera on its face. The device is a regular-looking black slab, and the shot also shows a virtual keyboard with an orange "Go" button and some browser navigation buttons on the right side. Along with the image, The Verge says that Amazon is planning a "pair" of Kindle Fires, one sized at 7 inches and the other at 10, but it's not yet clear if the devices will be unveiled together.
The original Kindle Fire didn't really have anything special about it in terms of its hardware design, and it looks like Amazon plans on taking the same approach with the new Fire. Of course, we'll have to wait until we actually get our hands on the thing before we'll judge the slate, but for now we've got this leaked image to analyze and keep us occupied until the morning of September 6 rolls around. UPDATE: A new source speaking to The Verge claims that the device up above isn't the new Kindle Fire, saying that the device has a wider bezel and "sloping sides like the old Motorola Xoom." The site adds that the image above is authentic, but that it could be a prototype or some other Kindle product. Good thing we've only got another week until Amazon spills the fiery beans.
