School may be back in session for some of our student fans this week, but the summer time fun hasn't stopped for everyone that loves the Samsung Galaxy S III. It remains #1 in the Official Smartphone Rankings via the People's Chart and the Mobile Tech Experts. PhoneDog EIC Aaron Baker explains how it's "great package of features, specs, and availability across all major carriers" keep the device on the top. Enjoy his rankings below along with David Baren of TmoNews and Sydney Myers of PhoneDog.com.

Ah yes, another week, another win for the Samsung Galaxy S III. There's still little competition to Samsung's flagship device, with the HTC One X and Galaxy Nexus coming close, but still not able to knock the Galaxy S III off its throne. So what device really comes close to the Galaxy S III? Why, the HTC One X of course, the only phone with the specs capable of taking on the Galaxy S III, along with Sense 4, which can play a big role in which device you prefer. The Android overlay, be it TouchWiz or Sense 4 makes for a big part of the Android experience and while a launcher is almost always the way to go, right out of the box is going to influence the decision of most buyers. So what about the iPhone 4S? It continues to sit comfortably in the top 5, just biding its time until its successor arrives. The HTC One S rounds out our top five which is unfortunate, because it's a fantastic device that sits in the shadow of its older brother, the One X. All things considered, you can't go wrong with any of these devices, though they all bring their own strengths to the table. The Galaxy Nexus is always going to be first on Google's update list, the One X and One S are HTC's best and the Galaxy S III has the 4.8' screen and 2GB of RAM. The iPhone, well it's the iPhone and that means it's backed by Apple's superb in-store service.

Nothing new here. I've got the same top five this week and for good reason. There's nothing out there that can top the global version of the Galaxy S III with its quad-core Exynos processor, 4.8-inch Super AMOLED HD display, and every add-on and glitz feature to go along. The US version is a close second, and may even be even with it, depending on what kind of performance you get, but there's no way it tops it. The Atrix HD comes in at number three due to its 4.5-inch HD display with ColorBoost technolgy, dual-core processor, 8-megapixel camera, and amazing price tag. I'm still keeping the EVO 4G LTE and the One X at the four and five spots. I know a lot of people would have the iPhone someone in here, but considering the other options, I just can't justify it.

Samsung's Galaxy S III series remains at the top for me due to a great package of features, specs, and availability across all major carriers (though the international build gets a slight nod due to the processor). The Galaxy Nexus is in third due to Jelly Bean and the improvements it brings; the HTC One X holds onto the fourth place slot due to a price drop on AT&T and excellent specs. And finally, the iPhone 4S is in fifth place due to a great media ecosystem. Stay tuned for a wild few months in mobile, though. Everything will change!
