And the list of Samsung Galaxy S III models to lose universal search has grown again. After both the AT&T and Sprint-branded models of the Galaxy S III received updates that disable the phone's ability to search for both web and local results using the Google search bar, the folks at Android Central have revealed that the international model (GT-i9300) is now getting an update that does the same thing. The new software is listed as being a "stability update" and weighs in at around 27MB, and along with killing universal search, the update packs in a new baseband version.

As I mentioned before, the AT&T and Sprint variants of the Galaxy S III have already received small updates that disabled local search. Samsung has said that it's updating the Galaxy S III as a "precautionary measure" so that customers can continue to use the device, likely a move that's in response to the legal battle between Apple and Samsung that got the Galaxy Nexus hit with a preliminary injunction (that's currently being stayed) in the U.S. Since the Galaxy S III is Samsung's flagship phone, the company likely doesn't want to risk it facing the same fate as the Galaxy Nexus, so it's opted to kill universal search on the Galaxy S III. Owners of the international Galaxy S III can find this update using either the software update functionality on their phone or the Kies desktop software.
