Did you decide to wait for in-store availability of Verizon's Samsung Galaxy S III rather than placing a pre-order? If so, your wait for the Galaxy S III may have just gotten a couple of days longer. Verizon announced last week that its Galaxy S III would be launching on July 10, but an image on the home page of the carrier's website now claims that the handset will be available for purchase on July 12. While we've yet to receive any official statements from Verizon on the date shift, a couple of sources speaking to Droid-Life also claim to have heard that July 12 could be the new date.
A two-day retail availability delay isn't the biggest postponement that we've ever seen, but I'm sure that some Verizon subscribers won't be happy about having to go another 48 hours without their shiny new Galaxy S III, especially since pre-ordered devices have already begun hitting doorsteps. I suppose that the risk of a slight delay is part of the territory when it comes to waiting for in-store availability and the instant gratification that it brings. How many of you Verizon folk are either planning to purchase a Galaxy S III or already have one in your hands?
UPDATE: Verizon has sent us a statement confirming that the Galaxy S III will now be launching in stores and online on July 12. The carrier's full comment:
"As it sometimes happens, the availability date for a device changes. The Galaxy S III on Verizon Wireless will now be available in stores and online starting July 12. Pre-orders have started to ship and are still available for preorder."
