Last week Verizon announced that it'd be holding a sale of some of its 700MHz spectrum, but only if its proposed acquisition of AWS spectrum from a handful of cable companies is given the green light. However, it seems that T-Mobile isn't a fan of Verizon's spectrum sale idea. T-Mobile CEO Philipp Humm and some of the carrier's other executives met with an FCC official last week to voice their displeasure, with Humm claiming that the sale doesn't do enough to reduce the potential negative effects of Verizon's AWS purchases. Humm and other T-Mobile execs also touched on their unhappiness with Verizon's original AWS deals, arguing that Verizon has failed to use its the AWS spectrum it already owns in the six years that it's held those licenses and that allowing Verizon to buy more AWS spectrum would just add to its supply of unused spectrum.

This isn't the first time that T-Mobile has come out against Verizon's AWS purchases, as it and Sprint voiced their concerns over the amount of redacted information contained in the documents from Verizon's deals and asked that the FCC hold off on its review of them until that info was revealed. Although Humm's meeting with the FCC official doesn't guarantee that Verizon's purchases will be blocked, it does show that T-Mobile is committed to standing its ground and doing what it can to prevent the deals from going through.
