The Samsung Galaxy Note is currently available only on AT&T here in the U.S., and although there are ways to get that model working on T-Mobile, customers on Magenta that are lusting after the 5.3-inch Note may soon have an easier time getting the device on T-Mobile's network. Our pals at TmoNews have done some sleuthing and found evidence that suggests that the Galaxy Note may be T-Mobile-bound. First up is the user agent string you see above, which lists a device with the model number "SGH-T879" and a resolution of 800x1280. The designation "SGH-Txx9" is used to identify T-Mobile devices, and TmoNews says that both the Bluetooth SIG and Wi-Fi Alliance listings for the SGH-T879 classify the product as a phone.

Next up we've got a handful of screenshots that reportedly originated from a T-Mobile Galaxy Note test unit. The images show the device's model number as being SGH-T879 and that it's running Android 4.0.3 with the build number IML74K, which matches up with a leaked build of Ice Cream Sandwich for the AT&T Note. The shots were also scaled down directly from a size of 1280x800, and GigaOM points out what appears to be an icon for T-Mobile's Name ID service in the third spot from the left in the status bar of the images below.

So there you are, T-Mobile folk. It's worth noting that this is all still far from a sure thing and that nothing is officially official until T-Mobile makes it so. However, with the way things are currently stacking up, it definitely looks like a T-Mobile Galaxy Note is a possibility. We'll continue to keep an eye out for any more details on the mysterious SGH-T879 that may surface. In the mean time, those of you that were considering picking up an AT&T Galaxy Note and tweaking it to work on T-Mobile may want to try and hold off for a little while longer.
