Some details of Windows Phone 8, codenamed Apollo, were leaked in a report back in early February. However, one question that's still on the minds of many Windows Phone owners is whether or not they'll upgraded to WP8 Apollo once the new software is released. According to one Microsoft evangelist, the answer is "Yes." In an interview with Portuguese mobile forum Zwame, Nuna Silva claims that all devices will be upgraded to the next version of Windows Phone, which he refers to as Apollo. In response to a follow-up question asking whether Silva actually means "all" when he says "all," he responded that he means all devices that have come out, including "the first generation."
Sounds good to us. Of course, it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to hold off on popping the cork on that champagne until we get official confirmation straight from Microsoft. There's also the factor of the carriers for folks in the U.S. to consider, as Engadget reminds us that they've got an equal amount of power over the rollout of updates on their network as Microsoft. Still, today's news is exciting for anyone that's currently rocking a Windows Phone, and I'm sure those folks are now looking forward to Windows Phone 8 Apollo even more than they were before.
