Rumblings of a Nexus tablet created by Google and ASUS have been swirling for a while now, but today a new report claims that the device is a "done deal" and indeed will be coming. According to a "senior employee" at a U.S. supply chain firm speaking to Android and Me, the Google/ASUS tablet is going to happen, and the retail price that's currently being targeted for the device is between $149 and $199.
There's not much in the way of spec information available about the tablet, but the source claims that it features a 7-inch display and that the Tegra 3 processor that had previously been rumored to be included is no longer going to be making the cut. It's also said that ASUS's quad-core Memo 370T with a 7-inch display has been given the axe as a result of Google and ASUS's plans to build this Nexus tablet.
A tablet that's the product of a Google/ASUS collaboration sounds pretty tempting, especially considering the device's alleged $150-$200 price point. Of course, this is all still very much a rumor at this point, and it's worth noting that we've yet to see any hard evidence to support these reports of a Nexus tablet. Android and Me suggests that this slate could debut at CTIA in early May, which certainly sounds kind of strange considering that Google I/O is taking place the following month, but we certainly wouldn't complain about getting a look at this mysterious tablet at CTIA.
