Motorola is known for its secret "project" updates that it sends to members of the Motorola Feedback Network for testing before it releases the new software to the general public, and today owners of the Wi-Fi-only Motorola Xoom were alerted that one such update is in the works for their device. As with most other projects we've learned of in the past, the email being sent out by Moto makes no mention of exactly what this update might entail. The pertinent part of the email is as follows:
"Thanks for joining the Motorola Feedback Network. We are preparing a project for owners of the “Google Experience Device” version of the WiFi-only Motorola Xoom. (This is the U.S. version only.) If you own this particular model, we would like to invite you to participate."
So what goodies might this batch of new software be packing? The fact that Motorola refers to the Xoom in question as a "Google Experience Device" in the email has led some folks to think that it could contain a nice Ice Cream Sandwich treat, but it's entirely possible that this is just a simple maintenance update like the Verizon Xoom recently saw. For now we'll just have to cross our fingers, keep our ears to the ground and wait for Moto to send the update out to testers. We'll let you know more when we do!
