T-Mobile customers with some holiday cash to burn may want to take the time to mosey on in to their local Magenta store this weekend, as a new report has revealed that the carrier will be hosting another big sale starting this Friday. Some images sent to our pals at TmoNews show that the "New Year, New Phone" sale will run from January 6th through the 8th and will reduce the net down payment of all smartphones and some mobile broadband devices to $49.99 or less. To receive the promotional price, interested customers will need to sign up for a two-year contract with a qualifying Unlimited Value Plan, which must include 2GB of high-speed data for smartphones or 5GB of data for "42Mbps Superphones" (like the HTC Amaze 4G or Samsung Galaxy S II).
As far as who is eligible for the New Year, New Phone sale, the documents sent to TmoNews claim that new customers and add-a-lines can take part in the deal, as well as existing subscribers on a Classic, Legacy or current Value Plan. The doc notes that there are no contract or handset tenure requirements but that the standard migration fees apply for anyone switching to a Value Plan. Once a customer decides to take advantage of the promotion, he or she can expect to pay a net down payment of anywhere between $0 or $49.99 depending on the device as well as a variable monthly payment. For example, the Amaze 4G has a down payment of $199.99 and a mail-in rebate of $150, leaving it with a net down payment of $49.99 on contract and a monthly payment of $20. We've yet to hear a peep from T-Mobile about this sale, but if it does indeed kick off on Friday like these images purport, then we should be getting official word in the next day or two. It's nice to see T-Mo holding another big sale, especially now that the holidays are done and folks may be looking for the shiny new gadget that they asked for but didn't get. Of course, some customers are a little bummed that this promo doesn't offer anything for Classic Plan customers that have no interest in switching to a Value Plan, but that's not a huge shock considering that the past few major T-Mobile sales have also been Value-focused. So, what do you T-Mobile users think? Anyone considering picking up a new toy this weekend?
