Apple fans may want to keep their schedules open at the end of this month, as a new report has suggested that the Cupertino firm is planning a media-related event for late January. According to sources speaking with All Things D, Apple will be holding an event in New York City in later in January that'll be hosted by Eddie Cue, the company's senior vice president of Internet software and services. The subject of the shindig isn't known, but the site claims that neither the iPad 3 nor the oft-rumored Apple television will be making an appearance.
So what might Apple have up its sleeve? All Things D thinks that, because Cue is involved, the event could have something to do with advertising or publishing. That means that we may hear more about Apple's iAd platform or perhaps the Newsstand feature that made its debut with iOS 5 last year. We'll be sure to pass along more details as we get them, but until then feel free to drop your own opinions down in the comments section below.
UPDATE: A report out of TechCrunch has corroborated the news of this Apple event. Additionally, the site claims that the gathering will be centered around publishing and eBooks, which includes improvements to Aplpe's iBooks platform.
