In the market for an Android tablet? You may want to hold off for a while if you can, as Google Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt has apparently teased that a high-quality slate is coming in the not too distant future. During an interview with Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, Schmidt said (according to the rough Google translation) that his company "plan[s] to market a tablet of the highest quality" in the next six months. No other details were mentioned.
Schmidt's quote is definitely exciting for anyone that's yet to find the perfect Android tablet for them. Many speculate that he could be referring to some sort of Nexus tablet, but the machine translation of the interview makes no mention of the word "Nexus," so its tough to figure out whether the exec is referring to a Nexus-type of device or if Google will simply be putting its marketing weight behind some other device. Whatever the case, it's still good to hear Schmidt talk up a slate that's "of the highest quality," and I'm sure many an Android fan will now be putting off their tablet purchases until we learn more about the product that he's referencing. When more details come out, you can bet that we'll pass them along.
