Looks like Verizon is planning to slowly trickle out the official release details on its pair of Motorola DROID Xyboard tablets. Yesterday Verizon revealed that both the 8.2-inch and 10.1-inch slates would be launching this month, and now the folks at Big Red have given up pricing and spec details on the devices. Both Xyboards will feature 1.2GHz dual-core processors, 1GB RAM, 5-megapixel cameras, 1.3-megapixel front-facing cameras, 4G LTE connectivity, mobile hotspot support for up to 8 devices, IPS displays and Android 3.2 Honeycomb, with upgrades to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich planned for both. As far as pricing goes, the 8.2-inch DROID Xyboard will be priced at $429.99 and $529.99 for the 16GB and 32GB variants, while folks interested in the the larger 10.1-inch Xyboard can expect to pony up $529.99 for the 16GB model, $629.99 for the 32GB variant, or $729.99 for the capacious 64GB flavor. All prices include a two-year contract. Verizon also reaffirmed that both Xyboards will launch this month, but didn't get any more specific than that.
Verizon has also confirmed its plans to release a white version of the Motorola DROID RAZR. The handset is expected to arrive sometime this month and will be priced at $299.99 with a two-year contract. Like the DROID Xyboards, the white DROID RAZR will also eventually receive an update to Ice Cream Sandwich.
Regardless of what you might think of the new DROID Xyboard branding that the Motorola tablets feature, it's good to see Verizon offering both the 10.1-inch and 8.2-inch versions of the Xoom 2. And hey, unlike the original Xoom, these new slates come with 4G LTE support right out of the gate! Of course, you'll be paying a pretty penny for that always-on Verizon connectivity on the Xyboards, but the promise of a tasty Ice Cream Sandwich later on down the road may make the hit to your wallet hurt just a little less. We'll keep an eye out for details on exactly when the Xyboards and white RAZR will be launching and let you know when we hear more.
